We See You Awards!

The WIMS production team was back in the editing room last month to create a video tribute for our beloved Dr. Dorothy Height. The short tribute film was screened on October 17th at the 5th Annual "We See You Awards", held at the Skirball Cultural Center.

The "We See You Awards" are sponsored by a wonderful L.A. based organization, Sisters at the Well. National Council of Negro Women member Barbara Perkins, launched Sisters at the Well in 2003 because of her "desire to be in the company of inspiring women. committed to building on the solid foundation of sisterhood, left by generations of strong black women." Barbar
a strongly believes that "when women gather at the metaphoric Well, together they find answers to questions and solutions to problems." Sounds a lot like the courageous women of Wednesdays in Mississippi! And we all know when women gather change happens!

Since 2005, Sisters at the Well has honored and celebrated women through their "We See You Awards". Each year the "We See You Awards" recognizes five outstanding women, "whose collective work spans over 100 years of service to women and families across the country and abroad."

This year's honorees were:

Honorable Congresswoman Diane E. Watson, a lifetime resident of the 33rd California Congressional District, currently serves on the International Relations and Government Reform Committees.

Charisse Bremond-Weaver, President of the Brotherhood Crusade, the community service and development organization founded by her late father, Walther Bremond, in 1968.

y, media development and event production firm. Denise served as the President of The Tavis Smiley Group, Inc. for 15 years.
